Quick Verdict
ECOVACS vs Roborock comes down to mopping style and home layout. Choose the ECOVACS Deebot X9 Pro Omni if most of your floors are hard and you want a continuously rinsed roller mop. Choose the Roborock Saros 10R if you need a lower robot for furniture gaps, mops that detach for carpet, and a chassis that climbs thresholds up to 1.57 inches.
This page compares two current flagships that represent each brand’s approach: the ECOVACS Deebot X9 Pro Omni and the standard Roborock Saros 10R (not Saros 10, Saros 20 or the Saros 10R refill-and-drain variant). Model choice matters more than brand name: both companies sell several lines with different mop systems.

ECOVACS vs Roborock: What the Brand Choice Changes
At this level both brands automate dust emptying, hot-water mop washing, drying and detergent dosing. The practical differences on the official US pages we read are these:
- Mopping hardware: ECOVACS’ X9 Pro Omni uses its OZMO ROLLER roller mop, which ECOVACS rates at 3,700Pa mopping pressure and up to 220 rpm. Roborock’s Saros 10R uses dual spinning mops on FlexiArm extending arms and can remove them automatically once the feature is activated in the app.
- Profile and obstacles: Saros 10R is 3.14 inches (7.98cm) tall with a solid-state 3D ToF navigation system and an AdaptiLift chassis. X9 Pro Omni lists a 3.8-inch body with dToF navigation and AIVI 3D 3.0 obstacle sensing.
- Store terms: Roborock’s US product page lists free shipping, 30-day returns, a 1-year limited warranty and 30-day price protection. The X9 product page we read did not state a warranty term; check ECOVACS’ policy pages or your seller.

Hard Floors and Sticky Messes
ECOVACS designs the X9 roller to be rinsed with clean water while dirty water is scraped off, and says its AI Stain Detection 2.0 analyzes mess types. Reviewers agreed the roller mops well. Roborock says Saros 10R switches to mop-only mode for liquids, lifting its brushes, and that the dock monitors dirt during mop washing to trigger an extra mopping pass. For a kitchen-heavy, hard-floor home, X9’s roller is the more specialised mopping tool.
Rugs, Thresholds and Low Furniture
This is where Saros 10R pulls ahead on paper. It can remove its mops for vacuum-only runs and mid-to-high-pile carpet cleaning (an app setting), lifts its whole chassis 10mm, and Roborock cites up to 1.57-inch double-layer thresholds in internal testing. At 3.14 inches tall it fits under lower furniture than X9’s 3.8 inches.
X9 keeps its roller on board, lifts it 10mm on carpet and lists a 20mm crossing height with the mop. Reviewer experience on thresholds was mixed. If your home has raised door sills, thick rugs or low sofas, Saros 10R matches that layout more closely.
Pet Hair and Maintenance
Both brands advertise anti-tangle brushes: ECOVACS’ ZeroTangle anti-tangle side and main brushes, Roborock’s DuoDivide main brush with an SGS-certified 0% tangling claim. In testing, TechGearLab found X9 weaker with pet hair than other premium models, while TechRadar found Saros 10R deft with pet hair. Both docks use dust bags, and X9’s mop-washing tray is rated for 150 days between cleanings by ECOVACS.
Smart Home and Setup Checks
Saros 10R supports Matter, Alexa, Siri Shortcuts and Google Home, and Roborock warns it works only on 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. X9 Pro Omni uses ECOVACS’ YIKO-GPT assistant for English text and voice commands. Neither standard dock connects to plumbing; Roborock sells a separate Saros 10R refill-and-drain variant that has its own installation requirements.
Which Should You Buy?

- Rugs, door sills and low furniture: Roborock Saros 10R, for mop detaching, a liftable chassis and its 3.14-inch height.
- Shedding pets: reviewer evidence leans toward Saros 10R; X9 scored weaker on pet hair in TechGearLab’s tests.
