Apple College Student Offer 2026: How the $100–$150 Gift Card Promotion Actually Works

Apple’s 2026 U.S. College Student Offer runs from July 16 through September 24, 2026. Qualified purchasers can receive a $150 Apple Gift Card with MacBook Pro or a $100 Apple Gift Card with MacBook Air, iPad Air, or iPad Pro when the transaction meets Apple’s promotion terms.

The biggest caveat: this is not simply “$100 or $150 off for everyone.” Eligibility is limited, purchases must be made through qualifying Apple channels, and Apple structures the promotion as a qualifying product plus a promotional Apple Gift Card.

If you later return the Mac or iPad, the Gift Card matters to the refund.

Orders placed during the promotion through a qualifying location can still qualify if they ship after the promotion ends, according to Apple’s terms.

Who is a qualified purchaser?

Apple’s 2026 terms define several eligible groups.

For higher education, eligible purchasers include:

• faculty and staff of U.S. higher-education institutions;
• students attending a U.S. higher-education institution;
• students accepted into a U.S. higher-education institution; and
• parents purchasing on behalf of a child who is attending or accepted into a U.S. public or private higher-education institution.

Apple also includes certain U.S. K–12 education employees and roles, including employees of public or private K–12 institutions and homeschool teachers, along with qualifying school-board and PTA/PTO officers.

Apple says purchasers must demonstrate that they meet the Qualified Purchaser requirements before purchase.

The offer is not for institutional purchases or resale.

Where do you have to buy?

Apple lists these qualifying locations:

• brick-and-mortar Apple Store locations;
• the Apple Store for Education; and
• 1-800-MY-APPLE.

The eligible product and promotional product must be purchased through a qualifying location in the qualifying country.

Purchases through other channels are not eligible under these promotion terms.

How the checkout structure actually works

This is the most important part of the promotion.

Apple says a qualified purchaser who buys an eligible product and the Promotion Product receives a discount equal to the value of the Promotion Product off the eligible product at the time of purchase.

Apple also says the customer is charged for all items in the cart, including the Promotion Product.

So this is not the same as Apple simply reducing your final out-of-pocket transaction total by $100 or $150 and giving you nothing else.

Conceptually, if a qualifying MacBook Pro transaction includes a $150 Apple Gift Card:

• Apple applies a $150 promotional discount to the eligible MacBook Pro;
• the $150 Apple Gift Card is also an item in the transaction;
• you receive $150 of Apple stored value for future eligible purchases.

Apple explicitly says the Promotion Product is redeemable for future purchases and is not a “gift.”

That is why it is more accurate to describe the promotion as $100–$150 in Apple Gift Card value tied to an eligible education purchase, not “$100–$150 cash off.”

What can you do with the Apple Gift Card?

Apple Gift Cards can be used within Apple’s ecosystem subject to Apple Gift Card terms.

Apple’s U.S. gift-card terms allow use for Apple products and content through supported Apple channels, subject to restrictions. Gift Cards are generally not redeemable for cash except where required by law, and they cannot be used to purchase additional Apple Gift Cards.

The card can have practical value if you already expect future Apple spending, but Apple stored value is not economically identical to unrestricted cash.

What happens if you return the Mac or iPad?

Apple’s promotion terms are direct:

Both the Promotion Product and the Eligible Product must be returned to receive a full refund.

If the promotional Apple Gift Card is:

• missing;
• not returned; or
• redeemed,

Apple says the full original value of the Promotion Product will be deducted from the exchange or refund value of the eligible product.

So if you receive a $150 Apple Gift Card with a qualifying MacBook Pro and spend that card before deciding to return the MacBook Pro, you should expect that $150 promotional value to matter in the refund calculation.

Likewise, if you receive a $100 card with an eligible iPad and do not return the promotional product, Apple says that value is deducted from the refund or exchange value.

This is one reason to avoid treating the promotional card as “free money” before you are sure you are keeping the qualifying hardware.

Important product and purchase exclusions

Apple’s 2026 promotion restrictions include several important limits.

The offer does not apply to:

• refurbished products;
• end-of-life products;
• open-box returns sold “as is”;
• purchases made through non-qualifying channels.

Apple also excludes resellers, public entities, government entities, nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, enterprise purchasers, and business purchasers from the promotion.

For promotion quantity limits, Apple says a Qualified Purchaser can obtain only:

• one Promotion Product for an eligible Mac purchase during the promotion; and
• one Promotion Product for an eligible iPad purchase during the promotion.

Availability also matters: Apple states that eligible products and promotional products are subject to availability.

Can the offer stack with another Apple promotion?

Do not assume every Apple discount stacks.

Apple’s terms say the College Student Offer may be combined with other Apple promotions directed to individual end-user customers and offered during the same promotion period in qualifying locations, but only subject to the terms, conditions, and limitations of both promotions.

That wording is narrower than “stack with anything.”

The correct approach is to check the terms of the second promotion rather than assuming compatibility because both offers are visible at the same time.

Is the $150 MacBook Pro offer automatically better than the $100 offers?

Not necessarily.

The gift-card amount should not determine which device you buy. A $150 card does not make a MacBook Pro the better purchase if a MacBook Air already meets your needs, and the same logic applies to iPad Air versus iPad Pro.

Choose the device you would buy without the promotion, then treat the qualifying Gift Card as added future Apple value.
